Wedding Planning.?
My boyfriend and I got engaged in July and have started our wedding planning. We decided on a theme and colors we'd like and a date, May 21st, 2008, but we still need to work out more details for it. I was wondering if there was something that can help me self plan my wedding and keep things affordable? He and I don't have a lot of money and we've yet to announce our engagement to our families, we're not sure how they'd react, but we'd like to at least get a blueprint set up. Anything on wedding planning (advice, tips, stories, etc) would be great appreciated. Thank you.

I got married last september, and my best advice is to stay organized. I bought one of those wedding planners (you can get them at any bookstore) and it was great because it gave price breakdowns, what questions to ask each vendor, spaces to write down things during interviews, etc. The best thing I did was to keep my wedding list in an excel spreadsheet with a column for names, phone #s, addresses, accept/decline, and gift. I can't tell you how much it helped with thank you cards (for the showers and the wedding) and then later for things like christmas cards, holiday party invites, etc.Now I have a list of all of the names of our family members and friends, their phone numbers, and their addresses saved right on my computer. I could also just use mail merge whenever i wanted to address envelopes, it is such a time saver. Best Wishes!!

How to Get Started in Wedding Planning?
I have been doing free work for about two years in wedding planning. I am ready to start my business. My concern is the details like, price for services, how to put by packages together if I need packages. How do I put the packages together and where to I get contracts or what do I put in them and what do I charge for my area. Help

Bartering for a wedding on a budget | OneWed.com

Bartering for a wedding on a budget Apr 28th 2009 | 4:14pm It seems that there is no end to the creative methods that altar-bound couples are employing to achieve a beautiful wedding on a budget. Jennifer Mae and Chris Waters of Pacific Palisades, California used the time-honored tactic of bartering to bring their costs down from an estimated $30,000 to a far more manageable $3,000. You see, the couple are both videographers - a service that is in high demand, particularly by wedding vendors who want to advertise their services. Jennifer told KABC-TV she and Chris bartered all of their party rentals, their venue, the wedding planner, the wedding photography, the DJ, the wedding bands, invitations and catering. In return, the wedding vendors received videos for their websites, advertising materials and other handy services that would otherwise have cost them plenty. But
